Individual Therapy
In New York and New Jersey
You might be doing well on paper but feel like something is missing. You have a career, relationships, and responsibilities, but internally, things can feel more complicated. You overthink conversations, struggle with uncertainty, or find yourself repeating patterns you thought you had already worked through.
Maybe you are trying to understand why relationships feel so difficult, why you are so hard on yourself, or why it is difficult to figure out what you actually want.
I provide individual psychotherapy for adults in New York and New Jersey. My approach is relational and psychodynamic, focused on understanding yourself more deeply and exploring the emotional patterns that shape how you experience your life and relationships.
You might recognize yourself here
You spend a lot of time thinking about things you cannot control. You replay conversations, anticipate problems, and worry about how other people perceive you.
You have a hard time asking for what you need. You might avoid conflict, prioritize other people, or worry that being honest will disappoint someone.
You keep finding yourself in similar relationships or situations. You know something is not working, but understanding the problem has not necessarily made it easier to change.
You feel pressure to have things figured out. Maybe you are successful professionally but feel uncertain about relationships, intimacy, or what you actually want from life.
Or perhaps nothing is particularly wrong. You simply want to understand yourself better and feel more connected to the people around you.
Understanding the Patterns Beneath the Surface
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and self-aware. They have spent considerable time trying to understand themselves, but still find themselves caught in patterns they cannot quite make sense of.
Anxiety, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, and intimacy often intersect. The way you respond to uncertainty, navigate conflict, or experience closeness may be connected to earlier experiences and relationships. Rather than focusing exclusively on managing symptoms, therapy can help you understand why certain experiences affect you the way they do.
Together, we might explore anxiety and overthinking, shame and self-criticism, attachment, family relationships, identity, intimacy, and the expectations you have for yourself. The goal is not to become someone else. It is to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and greater freedom in how you relate to others and navigate your life.My Approach
My work is grounded in relational psychodynamic therapy. I am interested in what is happening in your life now, as well as the experiences and relationships that have shaped how you understand yourself. I aim to create a space where you can speak honestly, including about things that may feel uncomfortable, contradictory, or difficult to put into words. I am curious and thoughtful, but also direct. I will not just tell you what you want to hear. When I notice something worth exploring, I will bring it into the conversation.
Therapy is not always comfortable, but it should feel like a place where you can be understood without having to perform or pretend.
Therapy for Gay & Queer Men
I mostly work with gay and queer men navigating relationships, intimacy, identity, and self-esteem. Dating, sex, relationships, and belonging can bring up complicated feelings, even when you feel comfortable with who you are. You might struggle with loneliness, body image, comparison, family expectations, or the pressure to present a particular version of yourself. You might find yourself navigating questions about commitment, intimacy, or what kind of relationship you actually want.
I also work with people exploring open relationships, polyamory, and other forms of consensual non-monogamy. These experiences can bring up questions about jealousy, autonomy, trust, and connection that deserve to be explored without judgment.
